WHO IS RYANNE FOLEY?
First and foremost, my mission is to assist individuals to attain a high quality of life. I work with each person as an individual with particular interests, wants and needs.
My name is Ryanne and I’m an Occupational Therapist working in the field of Mental Health. By day, I work at Akeso, a psychiatric inpatient clinic in Parktown, where I run group therapy and see people on an individual basis for assessment and/or treatment.
On a Wednesday evening I run outpatient (meaning anyone not admitted to a hospital) groups at Akeso for stress management and coping skills.
I am currently working on my Masters (MSc) in OT through Wits, in the Psychiatric OT stream. Even though one does not need a Masters to practice as an OT, I want to learn as much as I can so that I can help you, my clients, to the best of my ability.
On the weekend I run yoga classes at The Art of Movement studio in Emmarentia. I developed a model for the yoga and have called it Move your Mind Yoga, giving the classes a distinctive mental health focus. In each class we work through a different mental health topic/concept. I developed this class to help make mental health care more accessible, less intimidating, and more experiential.
I have two doggos, who I love beyond measure. I enjoy bringing a lot of variety in my life, so for fun I do arts and crafts, take my dogs to the park, compete in triathlons and read read read.
